Primitive Art on show at Le Touquet Museum

The "Gabon – Passions", July 1 – November 4, with the support and cooperation of private collectors, photographer Patrice Konrad, the museum of Boulogne sur Mer, and the group 2P2M (Patrimoine et Musées en Pays du Montreuillois), went on show at the municipal museum in Le Touquet. The exhibition allowed a wide public to discover various aspects of the life of this enchanting country.

The wealth of tradition and the diversity of contemporary artistic creation in Gabon were presented through a combination of photography, video footage, painting and sculpture, in addition to a wide variety of ritual objects and everyday items (some of which, particularly rare, were on show for the first time).

Interactive, educational and entertaining, this event will also highlight the influences that Primitive Art in general, and Gabon in particular, have had on artists such as Vasarely and Magnelli, whose works were part of the permanent collections of Le Touquet Museum, the Musée de France, etc. Passions at work!
