On October 16, President elect Ali Bongo Ondimba was sworn in as President at an inauguration ceremony which took place at the Presidential Palace, before the Constitutional Court and in the presence of a large number of Heads of State, National and international VIPs, delegations and guests.

Biography of Ali Ben Bongo Ondimba
Ali Bongo Ondimba entered the political life of Gabon in 1981. Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1991, he has occupied the position of Minister of Defence since 1999. He has been Vice Chairman of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) since the 8th Congress in 2003. On July 15, 2009, the Party appointed Ali Bongo Ondimba the official candidate of the PDG for the early presidential election on 30 August 2009.
Official launch of the Saint-Joseph Centre The Saint-Joseph Centre is the fruition of the work conducted by the foundation in memory of Mademoiselle Albertine Amissa Bongo Ondimba. The first of its kind in Gabon, the centre was officially inaugurated on 7 March. For the occasion, a free multidisciplinary medical caravan was organised. The aim of the centre is to provide free medical care for all underprivileged groups and in particular, to provide accommodation for young unmarried mothers who have dropped out from school, to allow them to continue to study and prepare for the future.
