PRESIDENT OMAR BONGO ONDIMBA WAS RE-ELECTED ON 27 NOVEMBER 2005

President OMAR BONGO ONDIMBA was re-elected on 27 November 2005 based on a social programme with realistic goals: "My Programme - Greater Action for Gabon". The programme takes stock of what has been accomplished so far and sets the objectives for the country's future, "So that tomorrow will be better than today".

This social programme is aimed at :

  1. Creating sustained and long-lasting growth, generating thousands of new jobs – p.8
  2. Improving access to the key social services in anticipation of reaching the "Millennium Development Goals" defined for all countries by the United Nations - p.11
  3. Placing women at the heart of our development - p.15
  4. Making young people the central issue in our plans for the future - p.15
  5. Reinforcing the right style of governance and participatory democracy, especially with decentralisation - p.15
From 6 February to 7 May, Omar Bongo Ondimba met up with various Presidents, politicians and investors in France, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, China and India. The meetings were aimed at diversifying Gabon's economy, "so that tomorrow will be better than today", thereby pursuing his social programme, entitled "My Programme - Greater Action for Gabon".
