Organisation of the Islamic Conference in Dakar

"The chief of State Omar Bongo Ondimba stayed in Dakar. The President of the Republic took part in the double summit of the OIC, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, and of the reconciliation between Chad and Sudan. Concerning reconciliation, the chiefs of State of the Congo, General Denis Sassou-Nguesso, Chad, Idriss Déby Itno, Senegal, Abdoulaye Wade, Sudan, Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bechir, the current President of the African Union and the General Secretary of the UN, general Ban Ki-moon, alongside senior member Omar Bongo Ondimba, intend to trace the itinerary of peace intended to set the pace of relations between Chad and Sudan.

The work of the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the OIC discussed the question, particularly in the course of the audience granted by Minister Mrs Laure Olga Gondjout to her Sudanese counterpart. The chief of Sudanese diplomacy reviewed the prevailing situation in Darfur."

"The other audience was with the Philippines’ Minister for Foreign Affairs. Cooperation was at the centre of the discussions. Gabon’s support for the Philippines’ candidacy for the International Court of Justice was the focal point.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wishes to reinforce relations with Gabon and see Gabon reinforce its presence in the OIC. Mrs Laure Olga Gondjout’s guest expressed the wish to see Gabon support the Turkish candidacy for the universal exhibition in 2015. Health is the chosen theme."
